3-Chamber Apparatus

We currently have 3 mouse 3-chamber apparatus and 1 rat 3-chamber apparatus.

Our 3-Chamber apparatus is typically used for the social interaction or social recognition tasks. However, it can be used for many other experiments. It consists of a large rectangular space which is divided by removable panels into three equal areas. These panels have holes which allow the subjects to pass between the areas. The different areas can be closed off by either flipping the panels upside-down or by taping additional pieces of plexiglass over the openings.

Additional equipment can include mesh cups for the conspecifics to use in social interaction, objects for use in novel object recognition, cups for food, etc.

Please let us know if you would like to use this for an experiment which is not listed in our current behaviors and we will do our best to assist you with achieving your goal.
