Ultrasonic Vocalization

US Vocalization Detection

Mouse and rat pups emit ultrasonic calls, especially when briefly separated from their mothers. These calls can be recorded by ultrasonic detection equipment and the emissions can be analyzed for evidence of anxiety or vocal emission phenotypes, even from an extremely young age.

Procedure

Pups are placed in a small dish for a set period of separation from their mother.  US vocalizations are measured throught the test.
